Wanakbori Thermal Power Station

Wanakbori Thermal Power Station is a coal fuelled power station in the state of Gujarat in India. It is situated on the bank of Mahi River in the Kheda district of Gujarat. Wanakbori Thermal Power Station has seven units of each having a 210 Megawatt capacity. The eight unit is in Under Construction Status.

Wanakbori Thermal Power Station is commissioned in March 1982. The Approved Capacity of this thermal power plant is 1470 Megawatt. The Installed capacity of this plant is also 1470 Megawatt. The status of the first 7 units are Operational and one unit is Under Construction. The primary fuel used for the production of power is coal. The type of eighth unit of station is Supercritical. Wanakbori Thermal Power Station is owned by the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation limited. The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant are Gujarat and its neighbouring states.

The Unit size of this thermal power plant is 1470 Megawatt (210 Megawatt x 7 units). There are Seven units in operation and one unit in Under Construction Status. The first stage has six units commissioned. They are from Unit 1 to Unit 6. All are in Operational Status.

The first unit is commissioned in March 1982 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. Similarly the second unit is commissioned in January 1983 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The third unit is commissioned in March 1984 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The fourth unit is also commissioned in March 1986 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The fifth unit is commissioned in September 1986 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. The sixth unit is commissioned in November 1987 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. In Stage 2, the seventh unit is commissioned in December 1998 with an installed capacity of 210 Megawatt. Finally in Stage 3, the eighth unit with an approved capacity of 800 Megawatt is yet to be commissioned and was in Under Construction Status. The eighth unit is anticipated to be projected in service in 2018. The type of eighth unit is Supercritical.
