Uri 2 Hydroelectric Project

Uri 2 Hydroelectric Project is erected in the Jhelum River of baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir. The power plant is commissioned in 2014. It has a total installed capacity of 240 MW. So the type of project is Major. The power project is completed in 2014 and the project status is operational. The river in which the project is located is Jhelum River and the hydroelectric basin is Indus Basin. The power project is completed in the Northern HE Region of the country.

The power plant is operated by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) under the ownership of Central Government. The beneficiary states of the power project are Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The name of the dam associated with the project is Uri II Dam and its main purpose is the Hydroelectric Power Generation. The type of Uri II Dam is Gravity & Masonry. The type of power house built for the project is underground and was completed in 2014. Here the type of turbine installed in the power house is Francis and the manufacturer of Turbine is Alstom Hydro. Also the manufacturer of Generator is ALSTOM.
