Renusagar Power Plant is a coal based captive thermal power plant located near Renukoot city in Sonbhadra district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The power plant is operated by the Hindalco Industries and gives power to the smelter (integrated plant), Renukoot for production of aluminium.

The project comprises ten units built from 1968 to 2003. It has an installed capacity of 725.7 MW (it has 10 generating units of various capacities). The plant is functional.

Renusagar Power Plant is commissioned in 1968. The approved capacity of the thermal power plant is 725.7 Megawatt and the installed capacity is also 725.7 Megawatt. The status of the Thermal power plant is Operational. The primary fuel used is Coal. The coal for the power plant is imported from Indonesia and South Africa. The import of coal would change in the later stage until the power plant finds a new coalfield. The power plant is using the Sub Critical Technology. The power station is owned and operated by the Hindalco Industries Limited. The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant were Uttar Pradesh and its neighbouring states.

The unit size of the thermal power plant is 725.7 Megawatt (67.5 Megawatt x 2 units, 74 Megawatt x 4 units, 68 Megawatt x 1 unit, 76.7 Megawatt x 1 unit, 75 Megawatt x 2 units). There are 10 units in Operation. They are from Unit 1 to Unit 10.

The first and second units are commissioned in 1968 and 1967 respectively with an installed capacity of 67.5 Megawatt for each units. After that the third and fourth units are commissioned in 1981 and 1983 respectively with an installed capacity of 74 Megawatt for each units. The fifth unit is commissioned in 1989 with an installed capacity of 68 Megawatt. Similarly the sixth and seventh unit are commissioned in 1997 and 1998 respectively with an installed capacity of 74 Megawatt. The eighth unit is commissioned in 1998 with an installed capacity of 76.7 Megawatt. Finally the ninth and tenth unit are commissioned in 2003 itself with an installed capacity of 75 Megawatt for each units.
