Ramagundam Thermal Power Station, a division of NTPC, is a 2600 Megawatt Power station situated at Ramagundam in Peddapalli district of Telangana, India. It is the currentleading power station in South India, with an approved capacity of 2600 Megawatt. It is the first ISO 14001 certified "Super Thermal Power Station" in the country.

The Commission Date of Ramagundam Thermal Power Station is in the month of November in 1983. The Approved Capacity of this thermal power plant is 2600 Megawatt. The installed capacity of this thermal power plant for stage 1 is 600 Megawatts for three units. Whereas the installed capacity for Stage 2 is 1500 Megawatts for three units and the installed capacity of stage 3 is 500 Megawatt for one unit. The status of this thermal power plant is operational. The source of coal for the production of power is obtained from South Godavari Coal fields and Korba Coal Fields. The source of water is from Sri Ram Sagar Dam and Godavari River. The primary fuel used is Coal. The Ramagundam Thermal Power Station is owned and sponsored by National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC Limited). The beneficiary states of this thermal power plant are Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. The Approved Investment is INR 2000 crore for Stage 1 and Stage 2. Whereas the Approved Investment for Stage 3 is INR 1800 Crore.

The Unit Size for Stage 1 is 3 x 200 Megawatt, Stage 2 is 3 x 500 Megawatt and Stage 3 is 1 x 500 Megawatt. There are 7 units in operation and they are from Unit 1 to Unit 7. The first unit is commissioned in November 1983 with an installed capacity of 200 Megawatt. After that the second unit is commissioned in May 1984 with an installed capacity of 200 Megawatt. The third unit was commissioned in December 1984 with an installed capacity of 200 Megawatt. After a gap of four years, the fourth unit was commissioned in June 1988 with an installed capacity of 500 Megawatt. The fifth unit is commissioned in March 1989 with an installed capacity of 500 Megawatt. The sixth unit is commissioned in October 1989 with an installed capacity of 500 Megawatt. It was in the third stage, the seventh unit is commissioned and was in August 2004. The installed capacity of Unit 7 is 500 Megawatt. Japan provided the International financial support to this thermal power plant.
