Raikheda power plant
Raikheda power plant is a 1370 Megawatt (MW) coal fired power plant in the state of Chhattisgarh in the country. In February 2010, it is reported that the owner of the Power plant, GMR Group has started the construction of power plant and will be completed within the following months. It is planned that the first two units would be commissioned within 45 and 50 months respectively in the year 2014. So the unit 1 was synchronized in October 2014. After that the first unit was commissioned in the month of February in 2016. Similarly the second unit is commissioned in March 2016.
Raikheda Power Plant is commissioned in February 2016. It has an approved capacity of 1370 Megawatt. The status of the Raikheda Thermal Power Plant is Operational. The Chhattisgarh Power Project has given the Mega Power Project status to the Raikheda Power Plant. The source of coal for the generation of power is imported from South Africa till the domestic coal linkage is obtained. The primary fuel used is coal. The owner of the thermal power station is GMR Group. The plant is using Super Critical Technology. The Boiler, Turbine and Generator Manufacturer for the plant is by Doosan Project India Pvt Ltd. The beneficiary states of the thermal power plant are Chhattisgarh and its neighbouring states. The Unit sizes of the thermal power plant are 1370 Megawatt (2 Units x 685 Megawatt).
There are two units in Operation. They are unit 1 and unit 2. Both of the units are commissioned in first stage. The first unit is commissioned in June 2015 with an installed capacity of 685 Megawatt. Similarly the second unit is commissioned in March 2016 with an installed capacity of 685 Megawatt.
