Meja Thermal Power Project

Meja Thermal Power Station is a forthcoming coal-based thermal power plant located in Meja village in the district of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. The power project is owned by the Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited, which is a joint venture between National Thermal Power Corporation Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUN).

The Meja Thermal Power Project is commissioned in 2018 April with a planned capacity of 1320 Megawatt and the installed Capacity is 660 Megawatt. The status of Meja Thermal Power Plant is Operational for Unit 1 and Under Construction for Unit 2. The type of power project is Supercritical. The primary fuel used for the generation of power is Coal. The Owner of this Meja Thermal Power Station is Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited, which is a joint venture between National Thermal Power Corporation Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam. The Beneficiary States of this thermal power project are Uttar Pradesh and its neighbouring states like Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir. The 75 percent of total power consumption of Meja Thermal Power Project is utilized in Uttar Pradesh and rest of power will be supplied to northern states of India. It is estimated that Meja Thermal Power Plant of NTPC Limited and UPRVUN will be taken up in its full capacity of 660 Megawatt that is a total of 1584 crores of units will be produced per day.

The Unit Size of this power project is 1320 Megawatt including Unit 1 and Unit 2. There are two units, where Unit 1 is operational, while Unit 2 is Under Construction. The first unit is commissioned with an installed capacity of 660 Megawatt in 2018 April. While the second unit is yet to be commissioned which has an approved capacity of 660 Megawatt and is under construction. Finance Sourcing is done by agreeinga loan contract for Rs. 7,575 crore and was signed on 2012 with association of sixteen Banks managed by SBI and syndicated by SBI Capital Markets Limited.

How to Reach: Meja Thermal Power Station is located at Meja village of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. One can reach this destination by Road, Rail and Bus. Regular buses are available from Meja to nearby towns and cities. The distance between Allahabad and Meja Village is around 40 kilometer. Trains are available for the visitors from Meja Road Station to Allahabad Junction Railway Station. The appropriate, fastest and inexpensive way to arrive from Allahabad to Meja is to call a taxi from Allahabad to Meja. Allahabad Airport is the nearest airport for getting Flights.
