Lower Sileru Project

Lower Sileru Project Power House has an installed capacity of 460 Megawatt. It is a hydroelectric power project. The status of the power plant is Operational and the source of water for the generation of electricity is from Godavari. The Basin River is Godavari. The hydroelectric basin is the East flowing rivers. The construction of the power station is completed in 1978 and soon the working of the power plant was started. The owner and controller of the power station is Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited. The beneficiary states of the power plant are Andhra Pradesh and its neighbouring states. The net max/min head (m) of the power plant are 199.6/173.4.

There are four turbines in the plant and the type of turbine is Francis. The Turbine Manufacturer of power plant for the first and second units are Leningrad Metal works. Also the Turbine Manufacturer for third and fourth units is Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. The Generator manufacturer for the first and second units of power plant is Electrosila of USSR and for the third and fourth units are Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. The Unit Sizes of the power plant are 460 MW (115 Megawatt x 4 units). There are four units in operational. Each of the units have an installed capacity of 115 Megawatt.

Regular Buses and taxi services are available from Khammam to power plant.Telangana State Road Transport Corporation runs buses from Bhadrachalam to power station. The nearest railway station is Bhadrachalam Railway Station.
