Lower Mettur Barrage - I II III IV Power House
Lower Mettur Barrage Power House is erected in the Cauvery River between Mettur and Bhavani in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. It is commissioned in 1988 with a total installed capacity of 120 MW. The basin of the power plant is Cauvery River. The Hydroelectric Basin of the power plant is located in the East Flowing Rivers. The Type of Project is Major due to its total installed capacity is greater than 25 MW. The Type of Plant is having four barrages on the downstream of Mettur dam and Stanley Reservoir. The status of the power plant is running and the hydroelectric region of the plant is Southern hydroelectric region of India. Run of the River is the type of hydroelectric development. The beneficiary states of the power houses are Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Completion of Power Project was in 1987 and after that it became operational. The type of turbine used in the power house is Bulb. The maker of both turbine and generator of the power house are by the Fuji Electric Company Japan. There are eight turbines in the power house and capacity for each of it is 15 MW. The Unit size of power house is 120 MW having eight units of 15 MW each. All the eight units are commissioned.
