Lara Super Thermal Power Station in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh

Lara Super Thermal Power Station is under construction power project erected at the Mahloi village, of Taluk Pussore, in the Raigarh region in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The power plant is one among the thermal power plants of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited. The coal is sourced from Talaipalli coal block of Mand Raigarh Coalfield and water will be sourced from Mahanadi River through Saradih Barrage.

The output of both Unit 1 and Unit 2 is proposed to be 4000 Megawatt with Stage 1 and Stage 2. Stage 1 comprises Unit 1 and Unit 2, whereas Stage 2 comprises Unit 3, Unit 4 and Unit 5. But Stage 2 with Units 3 to 5 is cancelled and thus it was limited from 4000 Megawatt to 1600 Megawatt.

Lara Super Thermal Power Station is expected to be commissioned in 2018 and its current status is under construction. The approved capacity of this power station is 1600 Megawatt and its installation capacity would be 1600 Megawatt. The primary fuel used for the generation of power is coal. It is owned and managed by National Thermal Power Corporation Limited. The beneficiary states of Lara Super Thermal Power Station were Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Goa. The total units were Unit 1 and Unit 2. Unit 1 has an approved capacity of 800 Megawatt and is expected to be commissioned in 2018 or 2019. Unit 2 has an approved capacity of 800 Megawatt and is under construction. The approved investment for the Lara Super Thermal Power Station were 12,000 crore for Unit 1 and Unit 2.
