JSW Ratnagiri Power Plant
Ratnagiri Power Plant is a 1200 Megawatt coal fired plant in the state of Maharashtra in India. It is also the planned site for 3200 Megawatt expansion of power plant. The Ratnagiri power station is erected in Jaigad, in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. It is owned and operated by the JSW Energy, a firm managed by the Jindal family. Maharashtra is amongst India’s most developed states, and is supposedly seeking to make itself an "attractive investment destination" for manufacturers to retain its prevalence in the sector. In July 2011, JSW Energy said it was shelving expansion of its 3200 Megawatt coal plant in the Ratnagiri power station as it delays for coal-estimating “clearness” from Indonesia and Australia. In May 2011, agriculturalists marched to protest coal plants in Ratnagiri, in an area called as the Konkan Coast. They also protested with a hunger strike in against the construction of seven thermal power plants planned for the district.
Ratnagiri Power Plant is commissioned in October 2011. The approved capacity of the thermal power plant is 3200 Megawatt and the installed capacity is 3200 Megawatt. The status of the power plant is Operational. The source of coal is imported through JSW Jaigarh Port. The primary fuel used is Coal. The Ratnagiri Power Plant is owned and operated by the JSW Energy. The Type of Plant is Super Critical. The beneficiary states of thermal power plant are Maharashtra and its neighbouring states. The unit sizes of the thermal power plant is 3200 Megawatt (4 units x 800 Megawatt).
There are 4 units in operation and they are first, second, third and fourth units. The first unit is commissioned with an installed capacity of 800 Megawatt.
