Jojobera Power Plant

Jojobera Power Plant is a coal-fired thermal power plant under the control of Tata Power which is situated at Jojobera, close to Jamshedpur in the East Singhbhum city of Jharkhand. The power plant is owned and controlled by the Tata Power. The Capacity of this thermal power plant is 787.5 Megawatt. (1 unit x 67.5 Megawatt, 4 units x 120 Megawatt). The plant also supplying power to Tata Steel.

Tata power Corporation initiated its processes in Jharkhand with acquirement of 67.5 Mega Watt coal fired power unit of Tata Steel in the month of April in 1997. To encounter the growing demand of Tata Steel, Tata Power decided to increase more units in the near future. As a consequence of which five more 120 Megawatt units were constructed in Jojobera in the year 2001, 2002, 2005, 2009 & 2011 respectively.

Jojobera Power Plant is commissioned in 1996. It has an approved capacity of 787.5 Megawatt and also has an installed capacity of 787.5 Megawatt. The status of this thermal power station is operational. The primary fuel used for the production of thermal power is Coal. The type of this thermal power plant is Subcritical. The owner and operator of this thermal power station is Tata Power. The beneficiary state of this thermal power plant is Jharkhand and its neighbouring states.

The Unit Size of this thermal power plant is 747.5 Megawatt (1 unit x 67.5 Megawatt, 6 unit x 120 Megawatt). There are seven units in operation and they are from Unit 1 to Unit 7. The first unit is commissioned in 1996 with an installed capacity of 67.5 Megawatt. After that the second unit is commissioned in 2000 with an installed capacity of 120 Megawatt. The third unit is commissioned in 2001 with an installed capacity of 120 Megawatt. The fourth unit is commissioned in 2005 with an installed capacity of 120 Megawatt. The fifth unit is commissioned in 2009 with an installed capacity of 120 Megawatt. Also the sixth unit is commissioned in 2011 with an installed capacity of 120 Megawatt. Finally the seventh unit is also commissioned in 2011 with an installed capacity of 120 Megawatt.
