Hinduja Thermal Power Station is a coal fired thermal power station sited at Palavalasa village in the Vishakapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. The power plant is under the control of Hinduja Group. The thermal power station has a total nameplate capacity of 1040 Megawatt. The source of financing of thermal power plant is attained on 29 June 2010 with a consortium of fourteen banks led by SBI.

Hinduja Thermal Power Station is commissioned in 2015 January. It has an approved capacity of 1040 Megawatt and its installed capacity is also 1040 Megawatt. The status of the thermal power plant is running. The primary fuel used is coal and the source of coal is imported coal from domestic as well as international coal mines. The source of water for the purpose of cooling the plant is from the sea of Bay of Bengal. The power plant is using the Sub Critical Technology. The Power Station is owned and operated by the Hinduja National Power Corporation Limited. The beneficiary states of the thermal power plant are Andhra Pradesh and its neighbouring states. The Unit Sizes of the power plant are 1040 Megawatt (520 MW x 2 units).

There are 2 units in operation. They are first and second units. The first unit is commissioned in 2014 with an installed capacity of 520 Megawatt and the second unit is also commissioned in 2015 with an installed capacity of 520 Megawatt.

How to Reach:

Hinduja Thermal Power Station is located in the Palavalasa village of Visakhapatnam in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is adjacent to the coast of Bay of Bengal and is around 22.5 km south west to the city of Vishakapatnam. You can arrive this site by Road, Rail or Air. By Road, you can reach this site by travelling through Yelamamchali–GajuwakaHighway. By Rail, you will get the train that is passing through the broad gauge of Kolkata-Chennai line via a spur at Duvvada station. The nearest Airport is Vishakapatnam Airport, which is located at a distance of about 30 kilometres from the Power Station.
