Giral Lignite Mine India

The Giral Lignite Mine India is situated near Giral village, which is 43 Km from Barmer city in western Rajasthan in India. The commercial production of Lignite was started in May 1995. The total capacity of the mine is 20 lakh Tonnes/Year and the type of mine is Lignite with surface (open-cast, pit). The Useful Heat Value of Coal is from 2400 to 3360 kcal per kilogram. The mode of coal evacuation is by Truck. The primary mining method used is Trucking and Shoveling. The Reserves estimated at the Giral Lignite Mine is about 31.55 MM Tonnes.

The primary customer of coal from this mine is Adjacent Giral Lignite Power Plant. The source of water is from Indira Gandhi canal by about 165 km of pipe line from Mohangarh. Giral Lignite Mine is commissioned in May 1995. It is a joint venture and is owned by the companies, Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals Ltd. (RSMML) with 51 percent share and the Raj West Power Ltd. (RWPL) with 49 percent share. Here, RWPL is a subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited. Barmer Lignite Mining Company Limited is the operating company of the plant.
