Gadarwara Thermal Power Station

Gadarwara Thermal Power Station is a coal fuelled thermal power plant sited at nearby Gangai village in Gadarwara in the district of Narsinghpur in Madhya Pradesh. The thermal station is one among the coal fired power plants of NTPC Limited. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) are the equipment supplier for this Gadarwara Thermal Power Plant. Its proposed capacity is 3200 Megawatts. The land for the construction of power plant is acquired from State Government and it is transferred to National Thermal Power Corporation. The total area acquired by the NTPC from Government is 1990 acres. From the acquired land, about 1350 acres has been assigned for Stage 1. The foundation stone for the thermal plant is laid in the month of February in 2014. The Construction of the power plant is begun in the month of March in 2014.

The Gadarwara Plant is a planned at 1600 Megawatt (MW) coal fuelled power station in Madhya Pradesh, India. The venture has been recommended by National Thermal Power Corporation. The Gadarwara Thermal Power Station is commissioned in 30 August 2018. The approved capacity of thermal power plant is 3200 Megawatt and the installed capacity is 800 Megawatt. The status of first unit is Operational and the second unit is Under Construction. The third and fourth units are in the process of future expansion.

The primary fuel used for the production of power is Coal. The source of coal for the generation of power is Talaipalli coal block, whereas the source of water is from Narmada River. The water is collected through a pipeline at a distance of around 30 kilometres away from the project site. The Thermal Power Plant is owned by NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation Limited). Government of India is the shareholder of this Gadarwara Thermal Power Station. The whole beneficiary states of this power plant are Madhya Pradesh and its Neighbouring States.

There are two stages, with first stage comprises of first unit and second unit and the second stage comprises of third unit and fourth unit. The first Unit was commissioned in 30 October 2018, with an installed capacity of 800 Megawatt and its status is operational. The second unit was in the process of under construction. The third and fourth unit are planned for future Expansion. The projected time for the inauguration of this thermal power plant is in 2018 (First Unit) and 2019 (Second Unit).

The distance from Gadarwara to Narsinghpur is about 50 kilometers. Transport Buses are available in regular intervals between Gadarwara to nearest towns and cities. Gadarwara Railway Station is the nearest Railway Station. The nearest airport is Jabalpur Airport, which is about 129 kilometers away from Gadarwara.
