Pattom Thanu Pillai

  • He is only Chief Minister who later became the Governor of an Indian State.

R. Sankar

  • The first Congress Chief Minister is R. Sankar.
  • He is the first Chief Minister from backward community. (1962 to 1964).
  • He was the first to become Chief Minister after holding the position of Deputy Chief Minister.
  • He was also the Deputy Chief Minister of the Pattam Thanupilla Ministry. He served as minister of Finance from 1960 to 1962 when he was the Deputy CM.

  • He is the first C.M. who presented Confidence Motion in Kerala Legislative Assembly.
  • He is the first Chief Minister for two term. The first term is from 1 November 1969 to 1 August 1970 and the second term is from 4 October 1970 to 25 March 1977.

K. Karunakaran

  • Chief Minister for the maximum number of times is K. Karunakaran (4).
  • He is the Only Congress Chief Minister who completed the complete term. The first term starts in March 25. 1977and resigned on April 25 1977, following the references by the Kerala High Court about 'Rajah case.
  • The Second term starts in December 28, 1981. He re-signed on 17th March 1982.
  • The Third term starts in May 19. 1982.
  • The Fourth term starts in June 24, 1991. He resigned on March 16, 1995, making way for Shri. A.K.Antony.
  • He is the Home minister of Kerala during the emergency period. He was the founder of United Democratic Front (UDF) in 1970.
