erala, the Indian state boasting the highest literacy in the country, after its formation once found its major income from agriculture, fishing, expats, and NRKs. The growth of education sector, its value factor in the society led to the overall growth and influenced the vision of development among public. Demand of white collar job for vast number of native graduates, engineers, and skilled youngsters along with the evolution of global IT sector in late 1990s turned situations favourable for numerous IT firms to start operations in Kerala. Today, IT is a major source of the state revenue, each district hosting own IT hubs, many of which belongs to the SEZ areas, housing thousands of companies that creates lakhs of employments each year. District-wise list of major IT parks in Kerala

Trivandrum:

Technopark, Trivandrum

Technopark, Trivandrum established in 1990 is the largest and greenest Technopolis in India, spread across 662.5 acres with 102.7 lakhs SqFt built-up area. Accounting for 70% of the total IT exports in Kerala, Trivandrum Technopark is the only IT park in India being CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) level 4 certified. The park houses more than 450 companies and employs over 62,000 IT professionals. Owned by Government of Kerala as an autonomous organisation, it is the first among the hub-and-spoke development plan for the state IT sector. The park provides businesses with virtual address, shared spaces, dedicated space, and incubation centres for start-ups.

Kollam:

Technopark, Kollam

Situated in Kundara, Kollam, the IT campus is a satellite campus of Trivandrum Technopark. It is the first district level IT park established in year 2009-2011. With an area of 44.47 acres of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and 1,00,000 SqFt built-up area, Kollam Technopark houses more than 21 companies and employs more than 500 people.

Ernakulam:

Infopark, Kochi

Spread over 260 acres of land, Kochi Infopark houses more than 41 companies and employs over 62,500 professionals. The park being established in 2004, houses operations of many Indian MNCs like TCS, Tech Mahindra, L&T Infotech, UST Global, Quest Global, etc. Infopark, Kochi act as a hub with spoke campuses in Thrissur and Cherthala.

Infopark campus, Thrissur: Spread across 30 acres of land in Koratty, Thrissur, the park has started operations with a buitlt-up area of 40,000 SqFt.

Infopark campus, Cherthala: With 60 acres of Special Economic Zone out of the 66 acres in Pallippuram village, Alappuzha, the Cherthala Infopark started operations with a built-up area of 2.4 lakhs SqFt.

Kozhikode:

Cyberpark, Kozhikode

Situated in 43 acres of land at Nellikode, Kozhikode, the Cyberpark serves as the major IT hub serving the Malabar region of Kerala. Established in 2014, it is the third hub after Technopark, Trivandrum and Infopark, Kochi with a motive to develop IT/ITES activities in the northern region of state. The park houses over 113 companies employing more than 850 professionals.

Technolodge

Technolodge is the tier 3 infrastructure after the major IT hubs in Trivandrum, Kochi, and Kozhikode and spokes in other cities and towns. Technolodges are designed to operate in towns and villages which are further rural, thereby creating employment and IT ecosystem in further rural areas of the state. The design is so kept for small firms working under service sector and IT enabled services to operate in further low cost environment. Mainly technolodges operates in unused buildings of government and panchayats.
