Damanganga Hydroelectric Project

Damanganga Hydroelectric Project is located in the Madhuban Dam of Bharuch District in Daman & Diu. The project is split into two as the Project Daman Ganga SHP–I and the Project Daman Ganga SHP–II. The total installed capacity of power plant is 3 MW for Small Hydro Power – I and 2.6 MW for Small Hydro Power – II. The type of project is Mini & Micro since the total capacity is less than 3 Megawatt. The current status of plant is Operational. The dam, where the project is erected is Madhuban Dam and the type of dam is Concrete Gravity Dam. The water source for power project is from Damanganga River and the basin is also Damanganga. The power project is located in the Western Hydroelectric Region of the country. The Hydroelectric Basin of the plant is West flowing rivers from Tapi to Tadri.

The power plant is owned by the State Government and the operating company of the plant is Tarini Group of Companies. The type of turbine implemented in the power house is Vertical Kaplan and there are two turbines used for each projects (SHP–I and II). The turbine is Austrian made and generator is France made. There are 2 units having 1.5 MW each for SHP-I and 2.6 MW for SHP-II.
