Aircraft Carriers of Indian Navy

  • INS Viraat is a centaur class aircraft carrier of Indian Navy. It is the flagship of the Indian Navy. It was acquired from UK on May 1987. (It will be replaced by INS Vikrant).
  • INS Vikrant was launched on 12 August 2013 and expected to be commissioned in 2022. Vikrant class two aircraft carriers and is being built for the Indian Navy, INS Vikrant and INS Vishal. The first aircraft carrier to be designed and built in India (Cochin Shipyard Ltd.) is INS Vikrant.
  • INS Vishal is expected to be commissioned in 2030.
  • Russian built Admiral Gorshkov renamed INS Vikramaditya is a modified Kiev-class aircraft carrier. It entered service with the Indian Navy in 2013. It is India's biggest ship, aircraft carrier. The aircraft carrier that appeared in the Indian Postage Stamp in 2013 is INS Vikramadithya.
  • Amphibious Warfare ship: An amphibious transport dock of the Austin class acquired from United States on 17 January 2007 is INS Jalashwa (formerly USS Trenton). INS Jalashwa was commissioned on 22 June 2007, which is located in Visakhapatnam that came under Eastern Naval Command.
